Weapon Cores and Combination Cores
Pax Autocratica cores explained: Weapon Cores reshape gun handling, Combination Cores create synergies, and troop cores turn your squad into shields.
Cores are the roguelite spine of Pax Autocratica. You collect them during each expedition to grow stronger, survive longer and push deeper into enemy territory — the standard run-based power curve, with one twist that most write-ups miss.
The Three Confirmed Core Types
Section titled “The Three Confirmed Core Types”| Core type | Confirmed effect |
|---|---|
| Weapon Cores | Reshape how your guns handle |
| Combination Cores | Create synergies between different core sets |
| Troop cores | Strengthen the troops fighting beside you, or turn them into sacrificial shields for your survival |
Weapon Cores
Section titled “Weapon Cores”The confirmed wording is that Weapon Cores reshape how your guns handle.
“Handle” is worth reading carefully. It points at weapon behaviour — feel, handling characteristics — rather than a flat damage percentage. That suggests cores change how a gun plays rather than only how hard it hits, which is the difference between a meaningful roguelite modifier and a stat stick.
No individual Weapon Core has been named, and no effect, count or rarity tier has been published.
Combination Cores
Section titled “Combination Cores”Combination Cores create synergies between different core sets.
This is the structurally important one. Its existence means cores are not meant to be evaluated individually — there is a designed layer where sets matter and a dedicated core type exists to exploit relationships between them. A run is therefore about assembling a combination, not about finding the single best drop.
Multiverse’s summary of the intended feel: each run becomes a shifting war machine built around you, your squad, and the chaos you unleash together.
No core sets have been named, and how sets are defined is not published.
Troop Cores
Section titled “Troop Cores”The third category acts on your squad rather than your weapons. It can strengthen the troops fighting beside you — or turn them into sacrificial shields for your survival.
That second branch is not flavour text. It is a progression option built around spending your own soldiers, who are citizens your colony produced, equipped with gear your colony manufactured. See combat and colony building.
Cores Are Per-Expedition
Section titled “Cores Are Per-Expedition”Cores are described as collected during each expedition, which places them inside the run rather than in a persistent colony upgrade tree.
What is not published: whether cores are lost when a run ends, whether any progression carries between runs, whether cores can be banked at base, and whether they can be re-rolled or removed.
Those are exactly the questions that determine how the roguelite loop actually feels, and they have no official answers yet.
What the Official Patch Notes Add
Section titled “What the Official Patch Notes Add”The store page names no cores, but Multiverse’s own demo update announcements do. Confirmed via official patch notes for the free Prologue:
- The Core slot limit is 10 — raised to 10 in the July 22, 2026 update, which answers the “how many can you equip” question for the current demo build.
- A Core Fragment codex exists at base (July 22), and the Core Fragment hold limit is also 10 (July 7).
- Rarity tiers exist. Patch notes reference red-quality Core Fragments dropping from yellow battles (July 7) and a raised unlock level for gold-rarity Cores (July 23). No full rarity ladder has been published.
- Some cores are named: Missile Cores and Electric Orb Cores (July 22), the Electric-Bouncer Core (June 14), and an unnamed core that increases grenade radius (July 1). All received balance changes, so their numbers are moving targets.
- Red battles drop three Core chests (July 22), and Core Fragment unlock levels are displayed in the codex.
The first Early Access patch adds one more name. The August 11, 2026 announcement fixed an issue where the Toxic Fog Core could not be triggered when the Leader attacked the Tree of Asherah during its final phase — which confirms a Core called the Toxic Fog Core exists, and that Cores can be triggered against a boss-type target with multiple phases. Multiverse has published no effect description, no numbers and no rarity tier for it. See patch notes.
Two caveats on everything above. Most of these entries describe the Prologue build rather than the Early Access build, and Multiverse states balance may change during Early Access.
Why There Is Still No Tier List Here
Section titled “Why There Is Still No Tier List Here”Search results already contain “best core builds” for Pax Autocratica. Those cannot be sourced, because Multiverse has published:
- only a handful of core names, none with full stats
- no core count
- no complete rarity ladder — red and gold quality are referenced, nothing more
- no synergy examples
- no numerical effects
A tier list requires a list. There isn’t one publicly.
What You Can Verify Now
Section titled “What You Can Verify Now”Cores are part of the expedition loop in the free Prologue, released December 2025. If you want to know what cores actually exist, playing is currently the only honest route.
Two caveats before you treat what you find as canonical: Multiverse states Prologue content and balance may change before Early Access, and the Prologue runs at smaller battle scale without mechs. Late-game core synergies balanced around mechanised warfare are not something the Prologue can show you. See Prologue vs Early Access.

Cores FAQ
Section titled “Cores FAQ”What are cores in Pax Autocratica?
Cores are roguelite upgrades collected during each expedition. They make you stronger, help you survive longer and let you push deeper into enemy territory.
What do Weapon Cores do in Pax Autocratica?
Weapon Cores reshape how your guns handle. Multiverse has not published individual core names, effects, counts or rarity tiers.
What are Combination Cores in Pax Autocratica?
Combination Cores create synergies between different core sets, meaning cores are designed to be combined rather than collected individually.
How many cores are in Pax Autocratica?
The total count is not announced. Official demo patch notes confirm a Core slot limit of 10, a Core Fragment codex, and red and gold quality tiers — but no full core list or tier ranking exists.
