PC Optimization and Best Settings
Multiverse has published no frame rate target, graphics presets, DLSS or FSR support for Pax Autocratica. Here is what is real, and how to test your own PC.
Pax Autocratica PC optimization is the single most confidently faked topic about this game. Guides exist right now promising 144 FPS and stutter-free gameplay, listing which settings to lower.
Multiverse has never published a graphics settings menu, a preset list, or a frame rate target. Those guides are describing a settings screen nobody outside the studio has seen.
This page covers what is actually known, and the one real way to measure performance today.
What Multiverse Has Actually Published
Section titled “What Multiverse Has Actually Published”Exactly two things: a minimum spec and a recommended spec.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | i5-8600 / Ryzen 5 1600x | i7-8700K / Ryzen 5 3600 |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU (1080p) | GTX 1060 6G / RX 480 | GTX 2060 Super / RX 5700 XT |
| DirectX | 11 | 11 |
| Storage | 40 GB | 40 GB |
Full detail, including the separate 1440p GPU tier, is on the system requirements page.
That is the complete published performance record. There is nothing else.
What Is Not Announced
Section titled “What Is Not Announced”None of the following has been published by Multiverse:
- Frame rate targets at any resolution or preset
- Graphics presets (Low / Medium / High / Ultra) or any individual setting
- DLSS, FSR, XeSS, frame generation or any upscaling technology
- Ray tracing support
- Ultrawide or multi-monitor support
- Steam Deck compatibility rating
- VRAM requirements beyond the GPU models named
- Any statement that the game is or is not CPU-bound or GPU-bound
Does Pax Autocratica support DLSS or FSR? Not announced by Multiverse. No upscaling, frame generation or ray tracing support has been listed for Pax Autocratica on Steam.
Why “Best Settings” Guides Are Invented Right Now
Section titled “Why “Best Settings” Guides Are Invented Right Now”What are the best settings for Pax Autocratica? Multiverse has not published a graphics settings menu, any presets, or any recommended configuration. No best settings list can exist yet because the available options have never been shown publicly.
Think about what a settings guide requires: knowing which options exist, what each costs in performance, and what the game looks like at each level. None of that is public.
Can Pax Autocratica run at 144 FPS? Not announced. Multiverse has published no frame rate target at any resolution or preset. Any specific FPS figure quoted for this game has no official source behind it.
This matters beyond pedantry. A guide confidently telling you to lower volumetric fog in a game whose settings menu has never been shown is a guide inventing its entire subject — and if that is invented, nothing else on that page is trustworthy either. The same sites currently publish Pax Autocratica strategy advice about tax rates and cabinet appointments, systems this game does not contain.
The Only Real Benchmark: the Free Prologue
Section titled “The Only Real Benchmark: the Free Prologue”Here is the part that makes this page useful instead of just skeptical.
Pax Autocratica: Prologue has been free on Steam since December 1, 2025. It runs on the same engine, ships the same listed system requirements, and is playable today at no cost.
That means you do not need anyone’s estimate of whether your PC can run this game. You can measure it.
Is Pax Autocratica well optimized? Unknown for the Early Access build, which is not released. The free Prologue is playable now and is the only way to measure real performance on your own hardware.
How to test before August 10
Section titled “How to test before August 10”- Install the free Prologue from Steam
- Turn on Steam’s built-in FPS counter (Steam → Settings → In Game → In-game FPS counter)
- Play through a colony-building stretch and a combat stretch — they load the system differently
- Note where your frame rate sits and whether it holds during heavy fights
Step 3 matters more than it looks. This game is a colony sim welded to a first-person shooter, and those two halves stress hardware in different ways: many simulated citizens and structures versus dense projectile effects. A machine that handles one comfortably may struggle with the other.
Two limits on what the Prologue tells you
Section titled “Two limits on what the Prologue tells you”Multiverse states the Prologue runs at smaller base scale and smaller battle scale than Early Access will, and that mechs and deeper automation are absent. Both of those are exactly the kinds of systems that add load.
So treat Prologue performance as a floor, not a ceiling — Early Access at full scale will likely demand more. Balance and content may also change before release. See Prologue vs Early Access.
What the Published Specs Do Imply
Section titled “What the Published Specs Do Imply”Careful inference, clearly labelled as inference rather than fact:
DirectX 11, not 12. An older API in 2026 suggests the renderer is not built around DX12-era features. Modern upscaling is usually implemented alongside DX12 or Vulkan, which makes DLSS or FSR support less likely — but Multiverse has not addressed it either way.
16 GB RAM at both tiers. Minimum and recommended being identical is unusual. It suggests a hard floor rather than a scaling requirement, which fits a colony sim holding a large simulation state in memory.
40 GB with no SSD requirement. No SSD is specified at either tier, which points at a game not built around continuous high-speed streaming.
Every one of these is a reasonable reading of published data. None is a Multiverse statement, and this wiki will not present them as such.
