How Many People Play Pax Autocratica?
Concurrent player numbers for Pax Autocratica, sampled every 20 minutes from Steam's own API, plus an honest note on what this measurement cannot show.
How many people play Pax Autocratica?
Between roughly 2,300 and 3,500 concurrent players in the days immediately after the Early Access launch. Across 35 samples taken from Steam’s own API over 30 hours ending August 12, 2026, the highest reading was 3,461 and the lowest 2,339.
Those numbers come from our own sampling, not from a third-party tracker. What that means, and what it cannot tell you, is set out below — because the honest limitations matter more than the headline figure.
Separately, Multiverse published its own figure on August 19, 2026: 100,000 players in the first eight days, with more than 500,000 wishlists still outstanding. That is a different measurement from concurrency, and it is covered first below.
The Official Number: 100,000 Players in 8 Days
Section titled “The Official Number: 100,000 Players in 8 Days”On August 19, 2026 Multiverse published the first and so far only official figure about the game’s size.
How many people have bought Pax Autocratica?
Multiverse announced on August 19, 2026 that 100,000 players had joined in the eight days since the Early Access launch, and that more than 500,000 people still had the game on their Steam wishlist. The announcement said players, not copies sold, so treat 100,000 as a player figure - it is the only official number of its kind and Valve publishes no sales data.
The announcement’s own words:
“It has been 8 days since Pax Autocratica entered Early Access, and 100,000 of you have already joined the fight. At the same time, more than 500,000 people still have Pax Autocratica on their Steam wishlist.”
| Official figure | Value | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Players since Early Access launch | 100,000 | August 19, 2026 |
| Remaining Steam wishlists | more than 500,000 | August 19, 2026 |
Three things this figure does and does not settle:
It is a player count, not a sales count. Multiverse wrote “100,000 of you have already joined the fight”. Steam family sharing, refunds and review copies all sit between players and copies sold, and the developer did not translate between the two. Any site reporting “100,000 copies sold” added a word Multiverse did not write.
The wishlist number is the more interesting half. Wishlists passed 200,000 in February 2026. Eight days after launch there are still more than 500,000 outstanding — meaning the wishlist grew by roughly 300,000 during the run-up and the launch converted only a fraction of it. For a buyer, that is a signal about future discount-driven sales spikes rather than about the game itself.
It does not contradict the concurrent numbers below. 100,000 players over eight days and 2,300–3,500 people playing at any given moment are consistent for a single-player game, where people play in bursts and stop. The two measure completely different things.
What We Measured
Section titled “What We Measured”| Samples | 35 |
| Window | August 10, 23:41 UTC → August 12, 05:41 UTC (30 hours) |
| Sampling interval | Every 20 minutes |
| Highest observed | 3,461 |
| Lowest observed | 2,339 |
| Most recent | 2,597 |
The Daily Curve
Section titled “The Daily Curve”Concurrent player counts for any game rise and fall with time zones rather than with how good the game is. Hourly averages from our samples:
| Hour (UTC) | Average concurrent |
|---|---|
| Aug 10, 23:00 | 3,461 |
| Aug 11, 01:00 | 3,266 |
| Aug 11, 05:00 | 2,418 |
| Aug 11, 06:00 | 2,370 |
| Aug 11, 07:00 | 2,367 (low point) |
| Aug 11, 08:00 | 2,549 |
| Aug 11, 09:00 | 2,749 |
| Aug 11, 10:00 | 2,888 |
| Aug 12, 02:00 | 3,225 |
| Aug 12, 03:00 | 3,091 |
| Aug 12, 04:00 | 2,805 |
| Aug 12, 05:00 | 2,628 |
The shape is a normal daily cycle: a trough around 06:00–08:00 UTC, when the Americas are asleep and Europe is at work, recovering through the European evening and peaking as the Americas come online.
Comparing the same hour across the two days is the only fair comparison. At 05:00 UTC the reading was 2,418 on August 11 and 2,628 on August 12 — slightly up, not down.
What This Page Cannot Tell You
Section titled “What This Page Cannot Tell You”What was the Pax Autocratica launch peak?
Unknown, and this page will not guess. Sampling began about eight hours after the game unlocked on August 10, 2026, so the true launch peak was never measured. The highest figure recorded here, 3,461, is a floor rather than a peak - the real launch-day high was probably higher.
This is the part other sites will not tell you. The game unlocked at 15:25 UTC on August 10; our first sample was at 23:41 UTC, more than eight hours later — and it was already the highest reading we ever recorded. Whatever happened in those eight hours, we did not see it.
So 3,461 is a floor, not a peak. If you see this wiki’s figure quoted anywhere as an all-time peak, that is a misreading.
There is a second gap worth disclosing: no samples were collected between 11:00 UTC on August 11 and 02:00 UTC on August 12, because the machine running the sampler was off. That window is simply missing.
Is Pax Autocratica losing players?
There is not enough data to say. Concurrent numbers move on a daily cycle driven by time zones, and 30 hours of sampling is too short to separate that daily rhythm from a real trend. Any site claiming a post-launch decline this early is reading noise.
How This Is Measured
Section titled “How This Is Measured”- Figures come from Steam’s own API, which reports current concurrent players for app 1067360. They are not estimates, and not scraped from a third-party chart.
- A sample is taken every 20 minutes by an automated job and appended to a local history file. Gaps mean the sampler was not running, and are disclosed above rather than interpolated.
- “Concurrent players” counts people in the game at that moment, not people who own it. Total owners are not published by Valve.
What Concurrent Numbers Are Good For
Section titled “What Concurrent Numbers Are Good For”They answer one question well and several badly.
Well: is there a live population right now? At 2,300–3,500 concurrent two days after launch, yes — and for a single-player game with no matchmaking, that matters for whether discussion, guides and bug reports keep flowing, not for whether you can find a match.
Badly: total sales, long-term health, or whether the game “succeeded”. Concurrent counts undercount single-player games badly, because people play in bursts and stop. The 2,255-review sample is a better health signal than this page — the median reviewer there has 14.3 hours logged and 194 have passed 40 hours.
