Automation and Logistics

Deeper automation is one of three systems Multiverse confirms is missing from the free Pax Autocratica Prologue. Here is what that tells us about it.

Automation is mentioned exactly once in Pax Autocratica’s public materials, and it is mentioned in the negative: as something the free Prologue does not have.

That single mention is genuinely informative, and this page is about reading it carefully without reading anything into it.

Does Pax Autocratica have automation? Yes. In its notes on the Prologue, Multiverse states that some advanced systems are unavailable in that version and names deeper automation first, followed by mechs and other late-game mechanics.

Two things follow directly from that phrasing.

The word “deeper” implies a spectrum rather than a switch — that some baseline automation may exist in the Prologue with more elaborate systems layered on later. And listing it alongside mechs positions it as late-game content, not an opening-hours convenience.

That is everything. Multiverse has not described a single mechanism.

The confirmed colony loop is manual assignment. Citizens can be put to work on:

  • Mining
  • Gathering
  • Hauling
  • Research
  • Manufacturing — producing weapons, armour, food and supplies

Hauling is the interesting one. In colony sims generally, moving goods between places is the task automation eliminates first, because it is pure overhead. Its presence as an explicit, named job is at least consistent with a later system that takes it over.

But note what just happened: that is a genre inference, not a Multiverse statement. This wiki flags the difference rather than blurring it. See colony management for the confirmed job system.

How Does Automation Work in Pax Autocratica?

Section titled “How Does Automation Work in Pax Autocratica?”

Not announced by Multiverse.

There is no published information on conveyors, pipes, logistics drones, automated haulers, production chains, power or fuel systems, blueprints, storage priorities, research prerequisites, or the buildings involved. No screenshot of an automation interface has been released.

Do you still assign citizens to jobs with automation? Unknown. Whether automation frees citizens for other work, replaces them entirely, or requires them to operate it has not been stated.

This is a case where the honest answer is short, and any long answer you find elsewhere is fabricated. Competing sites currently publishing Pax Autocratica “guides” describe tax rates and cabinet appointments — systems this game does not contain — which is a useful reminder of how confidently invented detail can read.

Automation in this specific game is not just a convenience feature, because labour here is political.

Your citizens work under fear, propaganda, surveillance and punishment, or comfort and prosperity. Discontent accumulates until dissent becomes revolt. Population is expanded by conscripting people during expeditions and by converting prisoners.

So any system that changes how much human labour you need has direct consequences for how many people you must control. Whether Multiverse builds that connection deliberately is unknown — but it is the reason this system is worth watching at Early Access launch rather than dismissing as background infrastructure.

The Prologue lets you learn the manual baseline now, which is the only preparation available. Play it, note how much attention hauling and production demand at small scale, and you will immediately recognise what changes when the deeper systems arrive.

This page will be updated with confirmed mechanics once Early Access ships. Until then it stays short on purpose. See Prologue vs Early Access for everything else the Prologue leaves out.

Does Pax Autocratica have automation?

Yes. Multiverse refers to deeper automation as a system that exists in the full game, naming it as one of the features held back from the free Prologue.

Is automation available in the Pax Autocratica Prologue?

No. Deeper automation is explicitly listed by Multiverse as unavailable in the Prologue, alongside mechs and other late-game mechanics.

How does automation work in Pax Autocratica?

Not announced by Multiverse. No conveyors, drones, logistics buildings, power system or production chain has been described. Only the existence of deeper automation is confirmed.

Do you still assign citizens to jobs with automation?

Unknown. Manual job assignment covering mining, gathering, hauling, research and manufacturing is confirmed, but how automation changes or replaces it has not been published.
